Time, Money, and Happiness: The Results of a Well-Run Business

The-Results-of-a-Well-Run-Business

One of the great philosophers of our time once opined, “Workin’ 9 to 5, what a way to make a livin’. Barely gettin’ by, it’s all takin’ and no givin’. They just use your mind and they never give you credit; it’s enough to drive you crazy if you let it.” -Dolly Parton.

You may not consider Ms. Parton a philosopher, but her sentiments about work ring true for many of us. There’s not enough time or money, and certainly not enough happiness.

Luckily for us, we live in a golden age of technology. With a few simple tools, you can really put more money in your pocket, recover more time, and increase your happiness quotient. And I promise I’m not a person you barely remember from high school who wants to enroll you in a multi-level marketing scheme.

Find More Money

The delightful thing about money is that there always seems to be a way to have more. Whether it’s more effective billing practices, tracking client expenses more efficiently, or discovering ways to pay less for the things you love, you can usually find more of it somewhere.

Let’s talk about the two paths to more money: bring in more and spend less.

To bring in more as a lawyer, you need to make sure that your bills to your clients are as comprehensive as possible. That means you need to keep track of all your reimbursable expenses.

Passive time trackers, receipt and mileage trackers are all good investments for you.

To spend less, utilize automatic coupon code finders, enroll in autopay for some bills, bundle services, and get alerts for recurring expenses for which you may have forgotten you signed up!

Find More Time

One of the best ways to find more time is to automate some basic processes. Some of my favorite time-saving tools are calendaring apps which make it easy to schedule meetings with individuals and groups. I also love tools that keep me organized. These include rules in my email to automatically sort and reply to specific emails, or automated, digital task lists. Every tool I use will save me at least a few minutes every day, and on some days, I save an hour or more by simply automating processes.

Increase Happiness

Henry Winkler has noted that he lives by two words: tenacity and gratitude. Tenacity to achieve his goals, and gratitude to never be resentful along the way. I think that’s a fantastic philosophy, but it’s hard to rapidly increase your happiness. However, there are some tools to help you get there. Mindfulness apps are a great place to start. Tools to help you diminish the amount of clutter also have a direct impact on happiness. There are also so many services to help you outsource the tasks that drain you so you can focus on what you love.

I have 10 tips in each of these categories, which I would love to share with you. I’ll share specific tools and techniques you can implement today to find more money, time, and happiness. Please join me on August 22 by clicking here.

Ultimately, most of us work more than 9 to 5, but we’re still struggling to find those markers of success: time, money, and happiness. Let’s spend some time together and get you closer to achieving your goals; because our unbalanced work-life will drive us crazy if we let it!
