To be a product specialist, you have to possess a particular set of characteristics. Positioned uniquely as both customer-facing and behind the product, this role requires intimate knowledge of how the technology works and the value in each and every feature. Beyond simply having this knowledge, a product specialist needs to be able to communicate this effectively during a demonstration to prospects, answering any and all questions along the way.

This month’s Employee Spotlight is on Jon “J.D.” Robinson, a Senior Product Specialist at CosmoLex. One of the earliest team members, J.D. plays a pivotal role in this company.

What is your role at CosmoLex?  

I am a Senior Product Specialist here at CosmoLex. My daily tasks center around performing online product demonstrations of our software.

What is your favorite part of your job? 

Talking to people from firms across the United States and Canada to assess their needs and how CosmoLex can help. Almost every firm I talk to is dissatisfied with their current setup for one reason or another – separate programs for billing and accounting, no practice management features, not in the Cloud – and I enjoy showing them how CosmoLex can take away those pains. My favorites are when someone is skeptical about our software when the demonstration begins but in the end, they’re ready to sign up. 

What makes CosmoLex a unique place to work? 

Definitely the people. When I first started at CosmoLex, we were a much smaller company working out of a much smaller office. We who have been here through the years and worked together to make CosmoLex the product that it is today – we’re like a family. With every accomplishment this company makes, we feel like parents watching their child succeed. 

What do you like to do in your free time? 

I’m an amateur actor, performing in local community theatre. During the summer, my wife and I are avid campers, going every weekend weather permitting. We are also huge sports fans – Go Dolphins! (please don’t laugh)

Describe one interesting fact about yourself? 

For four years, I worked as a staff reporter for a supermarket tabloid. I’m sorry to tell you this, but Bat Boy is not real. 

What did you want to be when you were a little kid? 

“Hi, my name is J.D. Robinson and this is SportsCenter.”
